My Story
I'm Marilu Navarro, LMFT — a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and first-generation Mexican-American from Los Angeles, California. Growing up in a bicultural household shaped my deep understanding of the unique pressures that come with navigating two worlds: family expectations, cultural identity, language, and belonging.
With over 11 years of clinical experience, I specialize in working with adults and couples dealing with anxiety, trauma, postpartum mood disorders, and relationship challenges. I provide telehealth therapy throughout Texas and California, and I'm proud to offer services in both English and Spanish — because healing should happen in the language that feels most like home.
My approach is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and grounded in evidence-based methods including EMDR, CBT, and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy. I believe therapy works best when you feel genuinely seen — not just treated. My goal is to create a space where you can show up exactly as you are, without judgment.
Whether you're navigating postpartum anxiety, healing from past trauma, working through relationship patterns, or simply ready to invest in yourself for the first time — I'm here for all of it.
"You don't have to have it all figured out to begin. You just have to take the first step."

2015How I Work
I draw from a range of evidence-based modalities, tailoring each session to your unique needs, history, and goals.
Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing
A structured, evidence-based therapy that helps you process and heal from traumatic memories and distressing experiences.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Identifies and reshapes unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that contribute to anxiety, depression, and relationship struggles.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy
Future-oriented and goal-directed — we focus on what's working and build from your existing strengths.
Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Combines trauma-sensitive interventions with CBT techniques to address the impact of trauma on thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.
Narrative Therapy
Helps you rewrite the stories you tell about yourself — separating your identity from your problems.
Schema Therapy
Addresses deep-rooted patterns and core beliefs formed in childhood that continue to affect adult relationships and wellbeing.
Humanistic Therapy
Rooted in unconditional positive regard — you are seen, heard, and accepted exactly as you are.
Bowen Family Systems Theory
Explores multigenerational patterns and emotional processes within families to foster healthier relationships.
Gestalt Therapy
Focuses on present-moment awareness and the connection between mind, body, and environment.
What I Treat
My Philosophy
I believe every person carries within them the capacity to heal. My role is not to fix you — it's to walk alongside you as you reconnect with your own strength, clarity, and resilience.
As a first-generation Latina therapist, I understand the weight of cultural expectations, the complexity of navigating two identities, and the courage it takes to seek help. I bring that lived understanding into every session.
My sessions are warm, direct, and collaborative. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach — I integrate multiple evidence-based methods to create a treatment plan that's as unique as you are.
Trauma-Informed
Every session is shaped by an understanding of how trauma lives in the body and mind.
Culturally Responsive
Your background, values, and identity are honored — not overlooked.
Bilingual
Full therapy services in English and Spanish — sanar en tu idioma.
Evidence-Based
EMDR, CBT, and other proven modalities guide our work together.
"I specialize in working with adults who are ready to do the deep work — whether that's healing from trauma, navigating a relationship crisis, or simply learning to trust themselves again."
